Teen charged in Regina man's death following fight

Regina police say they have charged a 16-year-old boy with second-degree murder in the death of a man, following a fight in the city's North Central area on Sunday night.

Police said they were called to an address on Rae Street near Fifth Avenue just before 10 p.m. CST on reports of a fight involving two males.

A 31 year old man was seriously injured in the altercation. He was rushed to hospital, but died about an hour later, according to police.

Officers arrested the teen about a block away, at Fifth Avenue and Retallack.

According to police, it appears the man was fatally wounded in the fight. Police had said a weapon was used, but they did not say what kind.

The teen, who cannot be named under the Youth Criminal Justice Act, is scheduled to appear in youth court on Tuesday morning.

The man's death is the third homicide in Regina so far this year.
