“So You Think You Can Dance” season 18 will bring back Nigel Lythgoe and Allison Holker

The series' co-creator and the widow of Stephen "tWitch" Boss will take their seats at the judges' table alongside "Dancing With the Stars" alum Maksim Chmerkovskiy.

After a tumultuous 17th season, So You Think You Can Dance will be back for a fresh round of competition in March — and it's bringing old and new faces to the judges' table.

Fox announced Tuesday that series co-creator Nigel Lythgoe, former SYTYCD competitor and All-Star Allison Holker, and Dancing With the Stars alum Maksim Chmerkovskiy will serve as the main judges on season 18.

Before his absence last season, Lythgoe was a SYTYCD mainstay, serving as a permanent judge for the first 16 seasons. (He has said he wasn't asked back for season 17.)

Holker, who competed in the second season of SYTYCD and later returned as an All-Star, joins the judging panel for the first time. Her return to the show comes in the wake of the death of her husband,  Stephen "tWitch" Boss, who served as a judge last season and previously appeared as a competitor and All-Star. Holker also appeared as a professional dancer on four seasons of Dancing With the Stars.

Chmerkovskiy is another former DWTS pro, and this marks his entrée to the world of SYTYCD. Former All-Star Comfort Fedoke will also join the judges during the auditions round, and veteran host Cat Deeley will be back for season 18 as well.

The new slate of judges follows a turbulent season 17, during which Leah Remini replaced new judge Matthew Morrison after he was fired for flirting with a contestant.

Sesaon 18 will also feature new insights into the behind-the-scenes machinations of the competition. Fox teased that viewers "will get a documentary-style inside look at the contestants' dynamics, following them throughout the competition as they go through their personal and competitive journeys, including the daily struggles, new relationships, personality clashes and more."

So You Think You Can Dance season 18 premieres Monday, March 4, on Fox.
