Poll results: State College cross-country runner selected as CDT Athlete of the Week

The readers of CentreDaily.com have selected this week’s girls’ athlete of the week.

Devon Jackson won the poll for the week of Sept. 4-10 for her performance with State College cross-country.

She posted a personal best time of 19:09.70 to claim the overall championship at the 2023 Harry Groves Spiked Shoe Invitational at the Penn State Course on Friday.

She took 38% of the poll, with 4,966 votes.

Here were the other nominees:

Ellie Romig, Penns Valley soccer: Penns Valley defeated Somerset on Sept. 5 thanks to Ellie Romig. The Rams knocked off the Eagles after Romig scored on a penalty kick in overtime.

She finished second in the vote with 36% and 4,680 votes.

Carlee Pepperman, Bellefonte volleyball: Bellefonte volleyball had a big week from its captain. Carlee Pepperman had 14 kills, seven aces and 17 digs against Central, along with 17 kills three aces and 14 digs against Huntingdon. She’s a four-year starter who has committed to play at Allegheny College next year.

Maddy Lumadue, Philipsburg-Osceola volleyball: Philipsburg-Osceola volleyball had a big week of production from Maddy Lumadue, who finished her week with 56 assists, 22 digs and 18 service points for the Mounties.

For the CDT’s Athlete of the Week polls this season, we will take nominations from all six county athletic departments for both a boys’ and girls’ athlete of the week.
