Topshop Launches Contactless Payment Accessories

Topshop has launched a range of contactless accessories in collaboration with Barclaycard’s bPay, enabling payments to be made without a cash card.

The techie accessory range includes smartphone cases, key chains and wristbands that all incorporate bPay’s contactless chip.

The ‘Monster Fish’ print will be available from 17 November, while a second metal and snake effect design will be introduced later in the year.

Not just limited to Barcalycard and Barclays customers, bPay can also be used by anyone with a UK-registered Visa or MasterCard debit or credit card to make payments wherever they see the contactless symbol.

The gadgets can be used to make payments up to £30 in over 300,000 locations across the UK.

If the accessories are lost or stolen, they can immediately be shut down using the bPay mobile app.

Tami Hargreaves, Commercial Director, Digital Consumer Payments at Barclaycard said:

“This is a really exciting partnership with TOPSHOP and marks the first time that our bPay chip is being incorporated into a product range from a major fashion retailer.

“The collaboration shows how the worlds of fashion and technology can combine to create a stylish and easy new way for people to pay using contactless, for everyday things – be it a morning coffee, a new lipstick or a bus trip across town.”

Prices will range from £15 to £32.
