Trump’s Valentine’s Day Love Letter to Melania Is a Fundraising Email

It’s Valentine’s Day and love money is on Donald Trump’s mind.

The former president penned a “love letter” to his Valentine, his wife and former First Lady Melania Trump … in the form of a fundraising email to prospective donors.

“Dear Melania, I LOVE YOU!” it read. Even after every single INDICTMENT, ARREST, and WITCH HUNT, you never left my side. You’ve always supported me through everything. I wouldn’t be the man I am today without your guidance, kindness, and warmth. You will always mean the world to me, Melania!”

He signed the letter “Donald J. Trump,” which we can only assume is Melania’s pet name for the former president.

Multiple links in the email directed donors to a page where they could “LEAVE SOME KIND WORDS FOR THE FIRST LADY THIS VALENTINE’S DAY” — as well as a monetary contribution to her loving husband’s campaign.

While Trump may be professing his undying devotion to Mrs. Trump, the former first lady had been largely absent from her husband’s campaign events and public appearances, and was even missing from the Trump family’s December Christmas photo.

Regardless, love is clearly on Donald Trump’s mind this Wednesday. The former president rang in Valentine’s Day by bashing recently defeated Republican candidate Mazi Pilip for not showing him enough love in her race to replace expelled former congressman George Santos.

Democrat Tom Suozzi defeated Pilip in a Tuesday special election to fill the vacancy left by Santos in New York’s 3rd congressional district. While pollsters initially viewed the race as a close call, Souzzi defeated Pilip by around eight points. The outcome is extremely unwelcome for House Republicans, who are already struggling with a slim House Majority that has been narrowed even further by a recent wave of departures, retirements, and an expulsion.

No one seemed more irked than Trump, who called Pilip a “very foolish woman” who “would have easily WON if she understood anything about MODERN DAY politics in America,” and endorsed him.

“MAGA, WHICH IS MOST OF THE REPUBLICAN PARTY, STAYED HOME – AND IT ALWAYS WILL, UNLESS IT IS TREATED WITH THE RESPECT THAT IT DESERVES. I STAYED OUT OF THE RACE, ‘I WANT TO BE LOVED!’ GIVE US A REAL CANDIDATE IN THE DISTRICT FOR NOVEMBER. SUOZZI, I KNOW HIM WELL, CAN BE EASILY BEATEN!” Trump wrote on Truth Social late Tuesday.

Pilip actually did endorse Trump. In a recent interview with CNN, she declared that she “will support Trump” in November and is giving little weight to the possibility that he may be convicted on any of the 91 criminal charges he is currently facing. “He was [a] great president, he did great things, and listen — right now what’s happening with Trump, all these DA’s like Alvin Bragg, they are politically motivated.”

Pilip, an Ethiopian-Israeli immigrant, was first elected to the Nassau County Legislature in 2021. Her candidacy as a replacement for Santos was heavily backed by local Nassau County Republican officials, who managed to flip their district following Souzzi’s now-temporary retirement from Congress in 2022 with Santos’ election. After less than a year in Congress, Santos was expelled from his seat in a historic vote following an indictment over a slew of alleged financial crimes, and the results of a scathing House Ethics investigation.

Despite widespread support for Pilip from the Long Island GOP, there is clearly no love lost between the voters of NY-3 and the Republican Party, who likely feel quite jilted after their disastrous — if brief — entanglement with Santos.

Trump has responded to the loss — and perceived love snub from Pilip — by turning to the one place he knows he can find affection: his adoring wife donors.
