TSX rises 0.20 percent to 16,248.76

- The Toronto Stock Exchange's S&P/TSX rose 32.50 points, or 0.20 percent, to 16,248.76.

- Leading the index were New Gold Inc, up 10.6 percent, Canfor Corp, up 7.4 percent, and BRP Inc, higher by 7 percent.

- Lagging shares were Spin Master Corp, down 5.6 percent, Colliers International Group Inc, down 3.0 percent, and Allied Properties Real Estate Investment Trust, lower by 2.9 percent.

- On the TSX 140 issues rose and 99 fell as a 1.4-to-1 ratio favored advancers. There were 8 new highs and 5 new lows, with total volume of 178.5 million shares.

- The most heavily traded shares by volume were Husky Energy Inc, Encana Corp and Bombardier Inc.

- The TSX's energy group rose 1.07 points, or 0.8 percent, while the financials sector climbed 0.25 points, or 0.1 percent.

- West Texas Intermediate crude futures rose 0.15 percent, or $0.08, to $53.34 a barrel. Brent crude rose 0.06 percent, or $0.04, to $62.33

- The TSX is up 13.4 percent for the year.
