Check your tickets: Unclaimed $1M Lotto 6/49 prize to expire in less than a month

If you were in Maple Ridge, B.C., last September, and recall purchasing a lottery ticket, hurry up and double check your bags, suitcases and junk drawers.
A winning $1,000,000 Lotto 6/49 ticket remains unclaimed, and the prize is soon to expire on Sept. 28, 2023 — meaning that there's now less than a month for the lucky winner to come forward.
The British Columbia Lottery Corporation (BCLC) is encouraging players to check their tickets for the winning Gold Ball Draw numbers 12299795-01 as part of last year's Lotto 6/49 draw.
“All lottery prize winners have 52 weeks from the draw date printed on their ticket to come forward to claim their prize,” said BCLC in a release. “Players can check their tickets at any BCLC lottery retailer in B.C., anytime online or on the BCLC Lotto! App.”
The specific retail location where the winning lottery ticket was purchased, and the lottery player's name, will only be announced after they've come forward to claim their prize.
So far in 2023 alone, B.C. lottery players have redeemed more than $68M in winnings from Lotto 6/49. Players can purchase tickets at any lottery retailer or at PlayNow.com, and can check their lottery tickets anytime, anywhere on iOS and Android devices.
Lotto 6/49 is a nationwide lottery game drawn on Wednesday’s and Saturday’s. The Gold Ball jackpot is an additional 10-digit draw number that comes with a purchased Lotto 6/49 picket.
The Gold Ball draw starts at $10 million, and includes 30 balls in the draw: 29 white and 1 gold. Each white ball is worth $1 million, whereas the gold ball represents the lucky jackpot prize. This Gold Ball jackpot will continue to grow by $2 million each time a white ball is drawn.
