A competition run by online photography community ViewBug is celebrating one particularly beautiful facet of architecture – arches.

Photographers have been set the challenge to picture archways in monuments and buildings, showing creativity and originality.

From stark modern ceilings to rickety and crumbling monuments, the photos show a breathtaking range of scenery and landscapes.
