Vin Abrenica replaces brother in new movie

The actor's dual roles in the upcoming "Moonlight Over Baler" was previously given to Aljur

7 Jun - Vin Abrenica is determined to give his best performance for upcoming movie, "Moonlight Over Baler", not just for himself but also for brother Aljur Abrenica.

As reported on InterAksyon News, the actor, who is set to play dual characters in the upcoming Gil Portes movie, revealed that big brother Aljur was the first choice to star in the movie.

The younger Abrenica disclosed that Aljur was set to play the two roles when it was first announced two years ago, but the project didn't pull through. When production was restarted earlier this year, the actor was already committed to filming the GMA drama, "Once Again".

"My brother told the director that he wanted to do the film, but the director told him, 'Aljur, you already have Hermano Puli, give this to your brother'," Abrenica disclosed.

"I know that my brother knew about this script and wanted to do this even before 'Puli'. So every time we see each other, he said this project meant a lot to him so he wants me to give this my best," he added.

In the movie, Abrenica plays the role of Nestor, a Filipino soldier who went missing during the WWII, leaving his betrothed, Fidela (Sophie Albert); and Kenji, a young Japanese photojournalist and Nestor-lookalike who meets the 65-year-old Fidela (Elizabeth Oropesa) a few decades later.

The movie also stars Ellen Adarna, Daria Ramirez, Menggie Cobarrubias, Aaron Yanga, Abel Estanislao, and Alvin Fortuna.
