This week’s Nominees

Landon Boyd, Carmel Christian Baseball: The Cougars’ sophomore pitched six innings with six strikeouts allowing no earned runs in a 2-1 win over a Lugoff-Elgin team that was previously unbeaten (8-0) in the Mingo Bay Tournament in Myrtle Beach April 11.

Carmel Christian (6-10) also beat PikeView (KY) (7-2, April 12) and Franklin County (VA) (4-3, April 13) in the same tournament.

Seth Clark, Weddington Baseball: The Warriors’ senior left-handed pitcher tossed a no-hitter with nine strikeouts to lead Weddington to a 10-0 win over Charlotte Latin in the Jack Sink Tournament April 10.

Weddington (14-4) also beat East Mecklenburg, (14-1) April 1 and Cannon School (4-3) in the same tournament.

Landon Dingman, Lake Norman Track: The Wildcats’ senior ran a personal-best 4:15.83 to finish third-place (by just .47 seconds) in the 1600-meter run at the Apex Lions’ Relays April 15.

Dingman is a University of Georgia commit.

Dan Donohoe, Providence Baseball: The Panthers’ senior pitcher tossed a complete game with 11 strikeouts to lead Providence to a 5-0 win over Summerville (SC) in the Hanahan Invitational Tournament (HIT) in Charleston March 11.

Providence (13-4), which has won 10 straight games, also beat Ocean Lakes (VA), April 10, and Stratford (SC) April 12 in the same tournament.

Alex Jessey, Providence Day Lacrosse: The Chargers’ junior attacker scored two goals and had two assists in an 11-9 win over Charlotte Country Day April 11.

Jessey also scored four goals, including the game-winner with 65 seconds remaining and had three assists in a 12-11 victory over Christ School April 13.

Jessey has 57 goals and 34 assists for Providence Day (10-4).

Greyson Little, South Mecklenburg Baseball: The Sabres’ senior went 2-for-2 with two runs and a RBI in a 14-4 win over Porter Ridge in the Jack Sink Tournament April 10.

Little also went 1-for-4 at the plate in a 6-0 victory over Parkwood in the same tournament April 11.

On the same day in the same event, Little capped off his week going 2-for-3 at the plate with a RBI in a 1-0 win over Charlotte Christian.

James Lowe, Charlotte Country Day Baseball: The Buccaneers’ sophomore went 2-for-3 with a double and a run scored in a 4-3 win over Butler in the Jack Sink Tournament April 10. Lowe also entered the same game as a pitcher and got the save.

Lowe was 1-for-4 with a run in a 9-3 loss to Myers Park in the tournament.

Lowe capped the tournament going 3-for-4 with a run in a 5-4 win over Sun Valley April 12.

Lowe is batting .487 with two doubles and 13 RBI, while going 1-0 with three saves on the mound for Charlotte Country Day (6-7-1).

Tanner McCammon, Charlotte Christian Baseball: The Knights’ senior went 2-for-3 with two doubles, three RBI and two runs scored in a 15-2 win over Myers Park in the Jack Sink Tournament April 10.

McCammon also went 2-for-3 with two RBIs and a run scored in a 10-7 victory over Parkwood in the same tournament April 12.

Charlotte Christian (12-8) also lost 1-0 to South Mecklenburg in the same event April 11.

McCammon, an Elon University signee, is batting .362 with two home runs, eight doubles, and 20 RBIs for Charlotte Christian this season.

Aidan Myers, Covenant Day Baseball: The Lions’ senior went 1-for-2 with a home run, two RBIs and two runs as Covenant Day beat host, East Mecklenburg, 5-2, in the Jack Sink Tournament, April 12.

Myers also had a home run, a double and three RBIs in a 6-5 loss to Sun Valley in the same tournament April 11.

Myers was 0-for-3 in Covenant Day’s 4-2 win over the Carolina Royals in the tournament opener April 10.

Myers is batting .268 with two home runs, 11 RBI and seven runs scored for Covenant Day (11-6-1) this season.

De’Rell Scott, Mooresville Track: The Blue Devils’ sophomore ran personal best to win both the 100-meter dash (10.89) and the 200-meter dash (22.18) at South Iredell April 12.

Scott also won the 400-meter dash in 51.52 at the same meet.

Bo Ziegler, Providence Day Baseball: The Chargers’ senior went 1-for-3 with a double, a RBI and a run scored in a 5-0 win over Parkwood in the Jack Sink Tournament April 10.

Ziegler followed that up going six innings on the mound with 11 strikeouts, giving up one earned run, while going 3-for-5 at the plate in a 6-2 win over Mallard Creek in the same tournament April 11.

Ziegler, a Washington University commit (St. Louis) finished off the tournament by going 1-for-2 at the plate with a RBI in a 6-5 win over Porter Ridge April 12.

Ziegler is batting .360 with a home run, four doubles, and 18 RBI, while going 2-3 on the mound with 46 strikeouts in 35.1 innings with a 4.16 ERA for a Providence Day team (13-5) that has won five straight games.
