It’s time to vote for The State’s spring sports Athletes of the Week from Midlands-area high schools and games played April 17-22. Voting ends Friday at noon. The winner will be announced on Lou Bezjak’s Twitter page.

The nominees are listed below. Please note that these polls are not scientific and are meant to be just for fun.

Girls sports nominees. Cast your vote below bios

Miley Baty, Gilbert softball: Freshman hit .750 with three homers, two doubles and eight RBIs as Gilbert won its sixth-straight region championship.

Victoria Coleman, Airport soccer: Freshman scored four goals and had two assists last week for the Eagles.

Ava-Claire Collins, Chapin lacrosse: Collins scored 16 goals and had four assists in the Eagles’ two playoff wins last week.

Sharmelle Holmes, Fairfield Central track and field: Holmes won the 100 and 200 in the Bob Jenkins Coaches Classic Elite Meet on Friday.

Amber Hughes, Mid-Carolina softball: Senior hit .429 with two homers and four RBIs. Hughes also was 1-0 pitching with seven strikeouts.

Logan Masinsky, AC Flora softball: Senior pitched a complete game, allowing one unearned run on four hits against Lugoff-Elgin. Masinsky also was 3-for-5 with an RBI at the plate in two games.

Maddie McMillion, Chapin softball: Senior hit .800 last week with an RBI and run scored in three games last week.

Madge Miller, Hammond softball: Freshman second baseman was 5-for-7 with three runs scored and three RBIs.

Briana Pinasco, Hammond soccer: South Carolina signee had 12 goals and five assists in three matches last week.

Brianna Rodriguez, Westwood track and field: Central Florida signee won the 100 and 400 hurdles in the Bob Jenkins Coaches Classic Elite Meet.

Kiley Shelton, Lexington softball: Senior and Colgate signee hit .583 with a homer, six RBIs and four doubles.

Nigel Ancrum, Spring Valley track and field: Campbell commit won the 100 and 200 in the Bob Jenkins Coaches Classic Elite Meet.

Thomas Anders, AC Flora lacrosse: Senior had eight goals and four assists in Falcons’ two playoff wins last week.

Cade Bouknight, Batesburg-Leesville baseball: USC Aiken signee was 5-for-9 with two homers, six RBIs and four runs scored. On the mound, the senior allowed one hit, one run and struck out 10 in six innings against Ninety-Six.

Ashton Eubanks, River Bluff golf: Eubanks shot a 69 to earn medalist honors in helping the Gators to win the Lexington County championship.

Christian Foster, Blythewood soccer: Junior had three goals in the Bengals’ two victories last week.

Foster Fralick, Dreher soccer: Senior had three goals, including two in a region-championship clinching win against Brookland-Cayce.

Zechariah Haney, Camden baseball: Sophomore was 5-for-11 with a homer, four RBIs and a stolen base.

Jacob Hair, Swansea baseball: Freshman pitcher allowed one hit, struck out six in 5.2 innings.

Skiler Jackson, Lugoff-Elgin baseball: Jackson went 5-for-10 with five RBIs as the Demons went 2-1 and moved into first place in the Region 5-4A standings.

Macon Leppert, Blythewood baseball: Sophomore was 5-for-9 with a homer and nine RBIs as Blythewood clinched the Region 3-5A championship.

Blair Moore, Mid-Carolina baseball: Moore went 10-for-15 with nine RBIs as the Rebels went 4-0 last week and clinched the Region 2-2A championship.

Denzell Posey, White Knoll baseball: Eighth-grader allowed one hit, striking out four in 6.1 innings last week in a relief appearance against Chapin.

Owen Salazar, Chapin lacrosse: Senior had four goals and six assists in Eagles’ two playoff wins last week.

Kevin Samonsky, Dutch Fork baseball: College of Charleston signee threw a complete-game, allowing three hits while striking out six and allowing no walks. He also was 8-for-14 at the plate with three RBIs and three runs scored.

Franklin Spires, Lexington soccer: Senior scored five goals and had an assist in two Wildcats’ wins this week. Spires also became the school’s single-season goal leader with 29 and all-time leader with 67.

Jackson Thomas, Brookland-Cayce baseball: Thomas pitched two scoreless innings, striking out three in relief victory over Gilbert. He also was 4-for-8 with three RBIs as Bearcats went 3-0 last week.
