Top storylines for the game

  • Sold out (again!): South Carolina has sold out a program-record four games this season: versus Vanderbilt, Ole Miss, UConn and Georgia. While the UConn game is the third sellout to take place on the calendar, it was the first declared sellout back in December. It’s the most highly anticipated home game of the season.

  • Gamecocks down to nine available players: USC’s 6-foot-7 center missed the Missouri game and will miss the UConn game for an Olympic qualifying tournament with Brazil Basketball. As of her last performance, Cardoso led South Carolina in points (13.8) and rebounds per game (9.8). Sophomore forward Ashlyn Watkins and junior forward Sania Feagin are expected to step up in Cardoso’s absence. Freshman reserve Sahnya Jah has been ruled out indefinitely due to “conduct detrimental to the team.”

  • Ranked matchups: Sunday’s contest marks USC’s sixth ranked game of the season (then-No. 10 Notre Dame, then-No. 14 Maryland, then-No. 24 North Carolina, then-No. 11 Utah and then-No. 9 LSU). As of Friday, the Gamecocks, Huskies, UCLA Bruins and N.C. State Wolfpack are tied for most wins over AP Poll-ranked opponents with five each. USC is a perfect 5-0 compared to UConn’s 5-3, UCLA’s 5-3 and N.C. State’s 5-2 record.

  • Huskies to watch — Paige Bueckers and Aaliyah Edwards: Paige Bueckers and Aaliyah Edwards are UConn’s leading scorers, averaging 20 and 17.7 points per game, respectively. Bueckers also leads her team in steals (55) and blocks (27), with Edwards recording the second-most blocks of any UConn player (20) and leading the Huskies in rebounds per game (8.8).
