This week in KC: Make Music Day all around town, plus ‘Stern’s Farewell,’ New Kids

The fourth annual Make Music Day Kansas City will fill the area with tunes on June 21.

The event will feature nearly 150 performances at dozens of venues, including sidewalks, streets and parks, from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Among the locations are the American Jazz Museum, noon-8 p.m.; City Market, 11 a.m.-8:30 p.m.; Downtown Olathe Square, 5-11 p.m.; Ilus Davis Park, 11 a.m.-6 p.m.; Loose Park, noon-9 p.m.; and Merriam Community Center, 1-7 p.m.

Make Music Day, which began in France in 1982, is held annually on the same day in more than 1,000 cities in 120 countries.
