Why is Cowboys Hall of Famer Drew Pearson in a group text with rapper Post Malone?

Dallas Cowboys Hall of Famer Drew Pearson made an appearance on “The Downbeat” on 97.1 The Freak on Thursday and spoke about why CeeDee Lamb should be an MVP candidate and how he got on a group text message with Post Malone.

Pearson is in a group text with the members of Club 88, which consists of Cowboys receivers who have worn No. 88, including Michael Irvin, Dez Bryant and CeeDee Lamb and Post Malone with whom Pearson wasn’t familiar.

“I didn’t even know who [Post Malone] was they had to tell me who he was,” said Pearson, “But I know now! He’s a bad man.”

Pearson went on to explain why he saw Lamb as a legitimate MVP candidate this year.

“He has 122 catches. It took me about, hmm, four years to get that many. He’s got 1,600 yards! 10 touchdowns! Oh my God, those are Most Valuable Player numbers,” said Pearson, “Imagine him not being there in that Cowboys offense. Imagine him not having the season he’s having within that Cowboy offense, especially the passing game. We wouldn’t have any success if CeeDee wasn’t doing what he’s doing. So we’re proud of CeeDee wearing the number 88.”

The Hall of Famer credited Jerry Jones for his ability to draft elite wide receivers.

“We’ve got to give some credit guys, to Jerry Jones. He knows how to pick some 88’s, I’ll tell you that OK. He picked Michael Irvin, he picked Dez Bryant and he picked CeeDee Lamb,” said Pearson, “so we’ll let him continue to do that.”
