WindsorEssex Community Foundation celebrates $31,000 in scholarships awarded to local students

The WindsorEssex Community Foundation (WECF) recently held a breakfast gathering to celebrate awarding over $31,000 in scholarships to students across Windsor and Essex County this year.

The event, hosted at the Essex Golf and Country Club, brought together donors and scholarship recipients to honor these students' achievements and express gratitude to fund holders for their investment in the future of local youth.

"We are proud to grant scholarships to eligible students pursuing their dreams by furthering their education at the post-secondary level," said Rachelle Booth, Chair of the WindsorEssex Community Foundation Board of Directors. "Through these community investments, the WECF is able to work with local families and individuals who want to support young people and have a positive impact on the future of youth in our communities. This is possible due to the dedication and commitment of these donors and scholars, and we are delighted to have had the opportunity to celebrate alongside them today."

Affordability of post-secondary education is a top priority for citizens of Windsor and Essex County, according to the 2022 Vital Signs report. Semiannually, the WECF conducts the Vital Signs survey, gathering the thoughts and opinions of Windsor and Essex County residents in eleven key issue areas, including Learning. Access to affordable post-secondary education has long been a top concern for survey respondents.

In 2024, the WECF will distribute over $31,000 scholarships to 16 post-secondary-education students. The WECF's scholarship funds support deserving students from diverse backgrounds, interests, and fields of study. The WECF is stewarding these scholarship funds and is proud to work with dedicated students and generous donors to uplift the community's young scholars.
