Yacht Forced To Flee As 1,000ft Waterspout Forms From Sea

This is this terrifying moment a yacht was forced to flee after a 1,000 waterspout suddenly appeared next to it.

The tiny vessel is seen eclipsed by the freak weather occurrence – known as an intense columnar vortex.

As a storm turned the sky grey, a wispy cloud emerged and began to swirl around and headed towards the water.

The incredible image was captured by a photographer who looked out from their window to see the storm beginning.

Pamela Pauline, 53, was amazed when she glanced out from her Bungan Beach home in Mona Vale, Australia, to see the ominous scene.

It lasted less than two minutes and it was the start of a huge four-day storm which affected the area, a suburb of Sydney.

She said: “I am a photographer with a particular interest in sky and clouds.

"I happened to be sitting at my computer working on some images when I glanced out my window and noticed this odd bit of wispy cloud breaking away from the dark storm clouds above.

"I felt in awe of nature while watching this happen.

"This was the beginning of the storm, it then started raining and did not stop for four days in Sydney.”

Pamela, from Mona Vale, added that she didn’t feel she was in danger, but was worried for the sailboats as one seemed close to the spout.
