22-year-old driver charged with impaired, while children present in vehicle

A 22-year-old man faces a host of charges, including impaired driving, after police pulled over his vehicle in the west end of St. John's on Friday night.

The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary said there were children in the car at the time of the traffic stop.

An off-duty RNC officer spotted the man, who was driving erratically, and reported it to police.

The accused was also charged with having no valid insurance or registration on board the vehicle.

Police added the accused had a learner's permit only, and faces charges of failing to have a licenced driver on board.

The vehicle was towed, and the driver was released to appear in provincial court at a later time.

No injuries were reported.
