Graduation backflip turns into graduation face-plant

Ahh…graduation. You’ve worked your butt off through those years of grueling classes, assignments and exams, so what better way to go out in style than with a celebratory backflip on stage after receiving your diploma?

A better way would be to not face-plant during said backflip and land on your face for hundreds to see.

Davenport University graduate Robert Jeffrey Blank did just that.

When his name was called to collect his diploma on stage at the graduation ceremony, Blank decided he would try and make an impression.

He attempted to complete a backflip moments after receiving his diploma, but instead failed so hard when he didn’t make the full rotation, he face-planted in front of the entire audience.

At least he succeeded at making an impression.

The sound alone of his back flip fail caused the entire (rather quiet) auditorium to turn and see what happened. Apparently, even the announcer had to collect herself.

But not to worry, moments after Blank's most embarrassing moment, he was OK and the ceremony continued.

In the moment that he smashes into the ground, you can literally see everyone’s head instantly turn to see the commotion. The embarrassment is cringe-worthy.

Moral of the story: Just grab your hard-earned diploma and stop trying to be a hero.
