Hold the phone: Woman trapped in church tweets for rescue
A British woman locked inside a church who says she lightheartedly tweeted about her plight for the entertainment of her local followers found her story went viral this week.
Sarah Greep, a resident of Plymouth and a jam maker, tweeted on Sunday morning that she was trapped inside the local Minister Church of St. Andrew.
I'm locked in inside St.Andrews Church! I was in private praying chapel & when I came out, everyone was gone & doors locked. #Plymouth #help

Her followers responded with concern and one of them even made a tentative offer to call for help, although Greep clearly had her phone available for tweeting.
Greep asked on Twitter when the next service was scheduled and documented her small adventure in real-time, even posting a video of herself inside the empty church.

She wrote the church was a relaxing a place to be trapped and she wasn't in a hurry. But at 8:30 a.m., she posted the next service wasn't until 6:30 p.m., and she had no access to a bathroom.
@CouncillorTudor @CarlEveCrime don't want to bother family or police, will wait for next service if necessary but toilet & firedoors locked. — -.-.Sarah.-.- (@SarahGreep) August 11, 2013
@CouncillorTudor so ideally would be better to leave sooner else I will wee in a cup, seriously lol :D #StAndrewsLockIn — -.-.Sarah.-.- (@SarahGreep) August 11, 2013
In addition to her bathroom troubles Greep wrote her phone battery was dying. She said she was searching for the numbers of church volunteers and key-holders who could let her out. Police noticed her online call for help and found a warden who let Greep out, according to the Independent.
In response to those asking why she didn't simply call police in the first place, the churchgoer said she didn't see the need.
@ItsDavidJones why ring 999 when it wasn't an emergency, why waste time waiting on 101 when phone battery low. Why bother general police.

Greep wrote she was surprised how far and how quickly the social media rescue story spread.
