New video shows tsunami wave hitting Japanese nuclear plant

New video released by Tokyo Electric Power Company shows the March 11 tsunami hitting the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant — the event which led to the ongoing crisis there.

According to CNN, the plant's owner told reporters the wave was as high at 15 metres and easily overcame the plant's 5-metre seawall.

The video was made by a worker from the plant who had taken refuge around 1 km from the plant after an evacuation order.

Japanese regulators released new emergency power standards on Saturday aimed at preventing a similar crisis in the future.
