Police clear suspicious package near Halifax dockyard

Military police have cleared a suspicious package near the Halifax's HMC Dockyard.

Police spotted the package under a parked car in a parking lot, shortly before noon on Wednesday.

An ordnance device robot was sent to investigate.

Police closed Valour Way, and Provo Wallis Street, on the harbour side of Barrington Street.

Halifax Regional Police closed Barrington Street from Cornwallis Street to North Street, snarling traffic in the area around the Angus L. Macdonald Bridge.

The person who had left the bag returned to the navy dockyard and notified officials that it wasn't a threat.

The whole ordeal took about three hours.
