Vandals take forklift for joyride

RCMP say vandals broke into the Payzant Building Products Ltd. in Lower Sackville on Sunday.

RCMP are investigating after vandals took a forklift for a joyride inside a building supply store in Lower Sackville, N.S.

RCMP Cpl. Scott MacRae said officers received a call about a break and enter at Payzant Building Products Ltd. on Sackville Drive at 9:44 p.m. on Sunday.

An employee arrived at the business to find someone had broken into a storage shed. Inside, there was a passenger vehicle on its side.

"Right now it looks like it was more fun and games," MacRae told CBC News. "It looks like suspects used the fork lift to upset the vehicle."

The forklift was parked by the overturned 1996 Ford Windstar minivan.

"They also created some damage inside the building, probably when they used the forklift to move the vehicle around, causing damage to some drywall," said MacRae.

"One of the service vehicles' fire extinguishers was also removed and dispersed in the building so it looks like the people just were up to no good."

RCMP are asking anyone with information to contact them or Crime Stoppers.
