Barbra Streisand, Elliot Page and “Fourth Wing” Among Finalists for Inaugural Libby Book Awards — See the Full List!

Get ready book fans — there’s a new awards show in town!

Book app Libby has announced the finalists for the inaugural Libby Book Awards, also known as the Libbys, a new book award show that spotlights the best books of 2023 and chosen by an “expert panel” of librarians.

“With the rise of digital reading and lending, libraries are more important than ever and the timing to launch the Libby Book Awards couldn’t be more perfect,” says Libby’s CMO Jen Leitman in a statement to PEOPLE.

Libby provides thousands of free ebooks, audiobooks and magazines to readers selected from local libraries, per their website. The app features material on more than 100 different subjects and includes new releases and curated lists.

The Libby Awards highlights books across 17 different categories, such as Best Memoir & Autobiography, which include Barbra Streisand’s bombshell-packed book My Name is Barbra and Elliot Page’s memoir Pageboy. The Best Fantasy section sees nominees like Leigh Bardugo for Hell Bent and Rebecca Yarros for Fourth Wing. Other categories include Best Adult Fiction, Best Debut Author and Best Thriller, and were voted upon by more than 1,700 librarians worldwide.

“We chose to shine a light on librarians because more than anyone, they understand the interests of their patrons,” Leitman says. “Librarians interact with library-goers day in and day out, and whether it’s providing advice on a genre or recommending a new title based on past interests, they’re seeing firsthand how their communities are interacting and reacting to these titles. Librarians are objective and completely trustworthy.”

The winners will be announced live on March 12 at 7:00 p.m. ET. Viewers can register to watch the virtual ceremony, presented by the Professional Book Nerds podcast, via Zoom. The ceremony will also be streamed on YouTube and Facebook Live.
