Sandra Bullock and Camila Alves bond over babies

Although Sandra Bullock once dated Camila Alves' husband, Matthew McConaughey, there is no bitterness between the ladies — in fact, they're chums!

There appeared to be nothing but love between the women when they came together with their children to watch the Warren Easton Charter High School marching band perform in New Orleans on Tuesday. The 48-year-old actress, who was casually dressed in jeans and a T-shirt with the school's name on it, was holding her number one guy: her 2-year-old son, Louis. Alves, who is expecting her third child early next year, had both Vida, also 2, and Levi, 4, in tow.

The women talked, smiled, and laughed during the duration of the concert, which took place in a grocery store parking lot. At one point, they casually plopped down on the pavement with their little ones between them — not at all bothered that the conditions weren't exactly VIP. It was a chilly day, so Alves, 30, pulled her wrap around her two kiddos to keep them warm.

Bullock is a regular fixture at Warren Easton Charter High School events having "adopted" the high school in 2007 following the devastating Hurricane Katrina. The single mom — who adopted Louis in The Big Easy — has contributed "hundreds of thousands of dollars" for an on-campus health clinic, college scholarships, the renovation of the auditorium, and — appropriately — band uniforms. Meanwhile, Alves arrived in the city over the weekend with her famous husband, who is filming "The Dallas Buyers Club" in the city. McConaughey's role has everyone talking because of the significant amount of weight he lost to play an AIDS patient.

Since Bullock and Alves are spending time together, that must mean the Academy Award winner is still pals with her "A Time to Kill" co-star McConaughey, whom she briefly dated way back in 1995. Bullock actually talked about maintaining a friendship with her ex long after their romance ended. "It's the work we both put in. There's a great amount of respect and love," she told Cosmo in 2003. "I feel very cared for by Matthew. No matter where he is in his life or where I am in mine — he could be married — I know we would stay close."

And now that McConaughey is married — he and Alves tied the knot in June — Bullock has lived up to her word by not only staying tight with him but by befriending his wife as well. No wonder she has a reputation for being one of the nicest actresses in Hollywood.
