Celebration countdown: Fefe Dobson to headline Markham’s Canada Day extravaganza

Join the City of Markham for its annual Canada Day celebrations at Markham Centre on July 1, from 3 p.m. to 11 p.m., with plenty of free and fun activities for the whole family.

This year’s headliner is the Juno Award-nominated singer and actress Fefe Dobson.

“Get ready for an electrifying Canada Day when the acclaimed Fefe Dobson takes the stage,” says Markham Mayor Frank Scarpitti.

Since her platinum-certified debut album in 2003, Dobson has been leading the way with her unique rock-pop sound. Last year, she released her latest album, blending her signature rock-pop melodies.

In addition to the live performances sure to get everyone on their feet, this year’s event will feature two kids' zones, doubling the fun for everyone.

“In Zone 1, be ready to explore our sensory activity zone, and a variety of inflatables including a big slide, climbing wall, axe throwing, and more,” says Canada Day co-chair, Coun. Amanda Yeung Collucci. “Zone 2 will have airbrush tattoos, a colouring area, and our friends from Hands on Exotics will be back to get attendees up close and personal with some friendly animals.”

Crowd favourites Doo Doo the Clown and Aaron Matthews will also return to keep everyone entertained, along with Cody and JJ from CoComelon.

Markham’s signature fireworks display will begin at 10 p.m., capping off a fun-filled day of activities and celebrations.

There will be ample free parking available on-site, and the event location at Birchmount Road and Enterprise Boulevard is easily accessible by transit.
