New coffee shop is coming soon to Fairview Heights mall. What we know

Since the Starbucks in St. Clair Square mall closed, I’ve had little luck in finding some much-needed caffeine onsite during the occasional shopping trip. (I’m not much of a soda drinker.)

Recently, I was at the mall for a little retail therapy and saw that a new coffee place – Gloria Jean’s Coffees – is coming soon to the former Starbucks site outside of JCPenney. (Joy!)

According to Christine Poehling, marketing director for St. Clair Square, Gloria Jean’s is awaiting final inspections and permits.

Poehling is in contact with Gloria Jean’s regarding an opening date, so I hope to have more info soon.

Gloria Jean’s offers a variety of cold and hot coffee drinks, smoothies and other refreshing beverages.

The beverages on the Gloria Jean’s website include Cookie Chillers (cappuccino blended with cookies topped with whipped cream and more), Espresso Chillers, Fruit Chillers and Smoothies, Mocha Chillers, coffee drinks over ice, un-coffee chillers, hot coffee drinks and hot teas and cocoas.

It’ll be nice to have a coffee shop at the mall again.

The mall’s Starbucks location closed at the start of 2021 after nearly 14 years.

Prior to that, the same suite housed Riley’s Coffee & Fudge, which opened in the late 1980s. Riley’s moved to Belleville in 2006 and permanently closed in summer 2009.
