Columbia woman’s body found over 40 miles from home on side of SC road, coroner says
An investigation is underway after a Columbia woman’s body was found more than 40 miles from her home near the side of a South Carolina road, the Aiken County Coroner’s Office said.
Breanna R. Bell, 22, was discovered by a wood line near the road on Sept. 5, Coroner Darryl Ables said. Bell was found near the intersection of Salley Road and Veterans Road, the Aiken County Sheriff’s Office said. That’s in the Salley area.
Although an autopsy was performed in Newberry, no cause of death has been publicly announced for Bell. Toxicology tests are pending, according to Ables.
At about 1:30 a.m., a 911 call was made about the discovery of what appeared to be a body, the sheriff’s office said. Emergency responders determined that the woman, later identified as Bell, was dead, according to the sheriff’s office.
No other injuries were reported.
Further information about the death, and if anyone else was involved, was not available. There was no word why Bell was found in Aiken County, and if that’s where she died.
Bell’s death continues to be investigated by the sheriff’s office and coroner’s office.
