David Koma Taps Lourdes Leon for a Masterclass in Movement

To celebrate the release of its Resort 2025 collection, London-based label David Koma just dropped a new campaign, featuring American model Lourdes Leon -- aka the daughter of the one and only, Madonna. Unpacking the "profound metamorphosis" where humanity and primal instincts collide, the campaign aims to celebrate a continuous cycle of change.

Drawing inspiration from two powerful women: visual artist Isabelle Albuquerque and model Veruschka, the campaign looks to their own distinctive ways of creating work, whether that be Albuquerque's life-sized sculptures or Veruschka's transformative body painting.

Similarly, Leon acts as this season's muse. "Lourdes truly reflected the metamorphosis that inspired the collection, transforming both her body and the look with her dynamic movements," explains designer David Koma, adding, "she embodies authenticity and has an unapologetic sense of self-expression, which is incredibly inspiring. She is the perfect representation of the Koma Girl – a complex character who is tough yet sensual, free yet controlled, and youthful yet mature. Watching her move as a professional dancer on set was mesmerizing; she looked sophisticated and elegant while exuding an almost animalistic grace."

Transitioning between strength and vulnerability and instinct and artistic, the collection aims to capture this sense of metamorphosis. Featuring silky soft raffia trims on sequinned skirts, feather like seams on dresses and zebra-like patterns on classic denim trenches, Resort 2025 plays with a variation of textures, colors and forms. Elsewhere, the collection includes crystal mesh bikini pants, silky black cowhide jackets and silver metallic chain skirts, offering an artistic juxtaposition between ornate and delicate materials and "animalistic" designs.
