Filming Underway On New Alan Partridge BBC Series

Filming is underway on new Alan Partridge mockumentary And Did Those Feet. Deadline revealed the BBC series several months back and cameras have rolled on the latest Steve Coogan conception. The mockumentary follows the beloved comedy creation settling into life back in his Norfolk home after a year working in Saudi Arabia, but the adjustment has left him with a deep sense of unease. Over six episodes he will unpack what is missing in his life, explore why the nation is in such a funk and find out what it might take to keep a person funk-free. “This look into the state of the nation (and Alan’s own psyche) through a unique lens – that of Alan Partridge – promises to further bolster the already iconic repertoire of the most legendary comedy character in the UK,” said BBC comedy boss Jon Petrie. Coogan has penned the new series alongside long-time collaborators Neil Gibbons and Rob Gibbons. It is produced by Baby Cow.

Indian Conglomerate Threatens Legal Action Against Makers Of ‘Scam’ Documentary

Indian’s Sahara India Pariwar is considering taking legal action against SonyLIV and Applause Entertainment over their new series based on the conglomerate’s late founder, Subrata Roy. A statement from Sahara called the show “an abusive and grossly condemnable act” made to “achieve cheap and wide publicity.” The third in the crime drama franchise series titled Scam 2010: The Subrata Roy Saga tells the story of the businessman. Based on a book by Tamal Bandyopadhyay, the logline read: “In the early 2000s, the glamourous Roy was caught in a whirlwind of accusations ranging from chit-fund manipulations to fake investors, ultimately leading to his arrest in 2014.” Sahara’s statement in response said “the aggrieved members are seeking advice to take suitable legal action against the Producer, Director and all those who are involved in making the illegal portrayal.” Roy died late last year.

‘Top Gear’ Hosts Land First Show Since Flintoff Crash

Top Gear hosts Paddy McGuinness and Chris Harris have landed their first show since the motoring series was rested for the foreseeable in the wake of Andrew Flintoff’s crash. McGuinness and Harris are fronting Road Trippin’ [working title], in which they head to Europe to look at how Britain’s European neighbors grow old gracefully and make their years ahead their best yet. Produced by Top Gear maker BBC Studios, the pair will visit Sweden, Greece and Switzerland, as they face classic midlife tropes of their own. McGuinness and Harris comprised two-thirds of the duo that were helming a successful revival of Top Gear before Flintoff’s crash, which has led the BBC to rest the show “for the foreseeable future” following a safety investigation. “Paddy and Chris’ on screen chemistry has always been a favourite amongst audiences and we’re so excited to be bringing more of an insight into their friendship through this adventure of a lifetime,” said EP Kat Lennox. McGuinness also fronts Channel 4’s Tempting Fortune, which was recently recommissioned.

Amazon’s ‘Top End Bub’ Adds Cast & Rolls Cameras

More cast has been added to Amazon Australia series Top End Bub, the small screen follow-up to 2019 movie Top End Wedding, which has entered production. Filming has commenced in Darwin and will soon move to Adelaide. Ursula Yovich and Huw Higginson are reprising roles as Daffy and Trevor, Lauren’s parents, while Shari Sebbens and Elaine Crombie return and Rob Collins, Brooke Satchwell, Guy Simon, Clarence Ryan and Gladys-May Kelly have boarded. Starring Gwilym Lee and creator Miranda Tapsell, Top End Bub revisit Lauren, a dynamic Indigenous lawyer ticking off life goals in Adelaide. The series is a follow up to 2019 movie Top End Wedding, which also starred Tapsell and Lee. Top End Bub is created, written and executive produced by Tapsell and Joshua Tyler and produced by Goalpost Pictures. The series will launch on Prime Video in Australia and New Zealand in 2025 and will be distributed internationally by ZDF Studios.
