'Outsiders,' Daniel Radcliffe, Jeremy Strong, Sarah Paulson win big at the Tonys

June 16 (UPI) -- The Outsiders was named Best Musical and Daniel Radcliffe, Jeremy Strong, Sarah Paulson and Jonathan Groff won Tony Awards for their Broadway performances at the David H. Koch Theater at Lincoln Center in New York on Sunday.

Harry Potter icon Radcliffe won for Best Supporting Actor in a Musical for Merrily We Roll Along, while his co-star Groff was named Best Lead Actor in a Musical. The show also earned the honors for Best Revival of a Musical and Best Orchestrations.

Strong, who is famous for his work on the TV series Succession, won his Tony for Best Lead Actor in a Play for Enemy of the People.

American Horror Story TV scream queen Paulson won for Best Lead Actress in a Play for Appropriate, which also earned the statuettes for Best Revival of a Play and Best Lighting Design of a Play.

Brill scored the trophy for Best Supporting Actor in a Play for Stereophonic, which also earned the Tonys for Best Play, Best Director of a Play and Best Sound Design of a Play.

Hell's Kitchen stars Maleah Joi Moon and Kecia Lewis won for Best Lead Actress and Supporting Actress in a Musical.

Kara Young is going home with the Best Supporting Actress prize for her performance in Purlie Victorious, while Suffs won for Best Book of a Musical and Best Score, and Illinoise picked up the prize for Best Choreography.

The Outsiders earned the accolades for Best Director of a Musical, Best Sound Design of a Musical and Best Lighting Design of a Musical.

The ceremony aired on CBS and streamed on Paramount+.

Oscar-winning West Side Story actress Ariana DeBose hosted the event for the third consecutive year.

Stereophonic and Hell's Kitchen led the nominees with 13 nominations each, followed by The Outsiders with 12 nominations.

Merrily We Roll Along and Water for Elephants were both up for seven awards.
