Miami radio station Hot105 just let go of two of its most popular personalities

If you’re an avid Hot105 listener, your morning rides might never be the same.

Two of the radio station’s most notable hosts – James T and Jill Tracey – have been fired, according to sources. The reasoning behind their firing is unclear as representatives from Cox Media Group, which owns Hot105 and Miami station 99 Jamz, have yet to return a request for comment.

A radio personality in South Florida for more than a decade, Tracey said she was let go Monday after doing the morning show.

“They are just trying to cut everywhere they can because they aren’t doing the numbers that they used to,” Tracey told the Miami Herald.

Tracey has worked on radio for more than 30 years. In addition to co-hosting the 6-10 a.m. weekday show, she also created her own show, “Hot Talk with Jill Tracey,” which aired 11 p.m. on Sundays.

Similarly, James T has been a staple on the South Florida media scene for more than 50 years. He has worked everywhere — from 99 Jamz to WPTV Channel 5 to Hot105. He had been at Hot105 since October 2004.

It’s also unclear whether the round of firings is happening at 99 Jamz as well. In early June, renowned South Florida radio personality Supa Cindy resigned from her post at 99 Jamz.

“I’ve kind of outgrown this place,” Supa Cindy said in an Instagram video posted June 7, later adding “I have got to focus on my happiness, what makes me feel happy. I’m not willing to sacrifice my happiness or my mental health for that matter.”
