Missy Elliott Once Owned This Rare Spyker C8 Supercar. Now It’s up for Grabs.

Is this ultra-exclusive supercar worth it? Missy Elliot certainly thought so.

A Spyker C8 once owned by the famous rapper is currently up for grabs on Facebook Marketplace (via Jalopnik). The coupé is one of just 266 examples built by the Dutch marque before it declared bankruptcy in 2010.

Spyker Cars wanted to make sure it stood out when it arrived on the scene in 1999, and it did exactly that by releasing a supercar as its first model. That vehicle would turn out to be the C8, a brash vehicle that combined a jet-inspired design with driver-focused dynamics and a potent powertrain. The compact speed machine was an oddity and that, along with its exclusivity, helped earn it a special spot in the hearts of car buffs around the globe. Unfortunately, that didn’t make the ride a success, and after little more than a decade in business, Spyker was forced to sell off its supercar division.

The ”Work It” rapper’s C8 is one of just 32 Laviolettes (Spyker’s name for the coupe) that were shipped to the U.S. Its outrageous body features a sculpted hood, louvered fenders, and a giant roof scoop; it’s also finished in gloss black except its silver roof. Open its upward-swinging swan-style doors and you’ll find a two-seat cabin covered in quilted Ruby leather and aluminum trim. The interior includes an aftermarket sound system installed by the legendary emcee since the C8 did not leave the factory with one.

The C8 is a purist’s dream and as such does not include power steering, traction control, or anti-lock brakes—features that some enthusiasts believe have ruined the modern-day supercar. It’s powered by an Audi-sourced 4.2-liter V-8 that produces over 400 hp. Elliott’s example is from the late stages of production and features a timing chain instead of the less-reliable timing belt found in earlier cars. The rapper only parted ways with the car two years ago, when she sold it to its current owner, and it’s said to be in good condition, with just 3,880 miles on the odometer. The ride has been detailed and serviced under its current ownership.

The current owner is asking $599,000 for Elliott’s C8, which is more than double its original $275,000 sticker price. They are open to a trade, though, suggesting there is room for negotiation.
