Here’s how much gas prices have increased in Whatcom County. Plus, where to find the lowest price

Washington state’s and Whatcom County’s gas prices have increased again compared to last month, but we’ve found the cheapest local gas in the county.

The average price of a gallon of gas increased by 11 cents in the last month in the United States and was $3.50 on Tuesday, April 4, according to the American Automobile Association.

Washington state’s average cost of gas per gallon is now $4.31, an 8-cent increase from March’s average of $4.23. February’s average was $4.13. Last April, gas averaged $4.71 a gallon in Washington state, according to AAA.

Washington state has the third-highest gas prices in the country after California and Hawaii. California has the highest gas in the country, averaging $4.84 a gallon, according to AAA.

Whatcom County gas prices

Whatcom County’s average cost of gas per gallon was one of the lowest in the state in January at $3.62 according to AAA data. Since then, Whatcom’s gas prices have steadily increased.

In April, Whatcom County’s average gallon of gas is $4.27, a 4-cent increase compared to March, and a 12-cent increase compared to February.

Whatcom County’s southern neighbor, Skagit County, averaged 8-cents lower per gallon in April.

The Bellingham Herald also compared gas prices to Whatcom County’s northern neighbor, Vancouver, B.C., where gas prices average 187.4 Canadian dollars per liter, or $5.74 per gallon, according to the Canadian Automobile Association.
