NFL-National Football League roundup

March 24 (The Sports Xchange) - NFL commissioner Roger Goodell, speaking at the league owners meetings Monday, said Indianapolis Colts owner Jim Irsay is subject to discipline following his arrest last week. "He is seeking help, and he's done that voluntarily," Goodell said at the meetings in Orlando, Fla. "To my knowledge, there's been no formal charges at this point. Obviously, any policies or laws that are broken, whether they are commissioner, player or coach, those are subject to discipline." Irsay checked into a health-care treatment facility on March 18 following his arrest on suspicion of operating a vehicle while intoxicated, along with four felony counts of possession of a controlled substance. - - Mark Sanchez, released Friday by the New York Jets, could be trading places with former Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Michael Vick. Sanchez is expected to sign with the Eagles, ESPN's Chris Mortensen reported, citing an unnamed source. - - DeSean Jackson is unlikely to return to the Eagles, and Jets owner Woody Johnson confirmed his team should be counted among the suitors for the wide receiver. Jackson had a career year with 82 receptions for 1,332 receiving yards in 2013, and he tied his NFL best with nine touchdown catches. "We're always interested in talent," Johnson said, adding that the franchise is looking at a "number of players, including DeSean." - - Oakland Raiders quarterback Terrelle Pryor asked to be traded after the team brought in Matt Schaub to be the starting quarterback. "Terrelle wants to start so bad," GM Reggie McKenzie said, confirming Pryor's agent approached the team about his client's future. "I'll visit with him. We'll talk to him. We'll see in the next week or so how he feels about his future." - - Free agent offensive lineman Vladimir Ducasse agreed to a one-year contract with the Minnesota Vikings, according to a multiple reports. Ducasse spent the first four years of his NFL career with the Jets after he was taken in the second round of the 2010 draft out of Massachusetts. - - The Browns agreed to contract terms with unrestricted free agent offensive lineman Paul McQuistan. McQuistan started 14 games last year for the Seattle Seahawks. He started eight times at left tackle and six at left guard. He rotated at left guard in the playoffs, in which the Seahawks won the Super Bowl. - - The San Francisco 49ers re-signed wide receiver Kassim Osgood to a one-year deal. Osgood, 33, made 12 special teams tackles in 14 regular-season games in 2013, and he appeared in three playoff games for the 49ers. - - The Cincinnati Bengals signed free agent cornerback R.J. Stanford. Stanford played the first 13 games of last season with the Miami Dolphins before an ankle injury ended his season Dec. 8 against the Pittsburgh Steelers. - - Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban predicts that the NFL will suffer a decline because of greed and overexposure. "I think the NFL is 10 years away from an implosion," Cuban said before Sunday's game against the Brooklyn Nets. "I'm just telling you, pigs get fat, hogs get slaughtered. And they're getting hoggy. Just watch. Pigs get fat, hogs get slaughtered. When you try to take it too far, people turn the other way." Cuban said the NFL's television package expansion is a poor business decision.
