NFL training camp 2022 tracker: Dolphins cancel joint practice with Eagles because of non-COVID illness
In a strange turn of events, the Miami Dolphins suddenly canceled their joint practice with the Philadelphia Eagles on Thursday, the team announced. The Dolphins are reportedly dealing with a non-COVID illness spreading throughout the team and want to try and save their Saturday preseason game.
The Dolphins will be meeting virtually today “out of an abundance of caution as a result of a non-COVID illness.”

According to NFL Network's Mike Garafolo, "a bunch" of players were sick and vomiting overnight. Some believe the Dolphins are dealing with a stomach bug, but others think it could be food poisoning, per Garafolo. No Eagles players have reported any illness or symptoms, head coach Nick Sirianni said Thursday morning.
Some players believe it’s food poisoning rather than a “bug,” per sources. But no way of truly knowing at this point.

Tensions were just starting to heat up between the two teams after Eagles receiver A.J. Brown called out reporters for only posting a highlight of Dolphins wideout Tyreek Hill beating Philadelphia cornerback Darius Slay early in practice.
Now show us cooking y’all corners 😮💨 https://t.co/LKZn1rB4dg

I ain’t even talking to get one up on nobody because it’s practice. Just keep the same energy for both sides.

Someone did eventually tweet out a video of Brown later that day to his satisfaction. While its just the preseason, both the Dolphins and Eagles are hitting an important point in the development of their young quarterbacks. Jalen Hurts and Tua Tagovailoa are hitting now-or-never seasons and both teams spent considerable assets building up their respective supporting casts.
Now, it's on both quarterbacks to take a leap forward to prove they have staying power in the NFL. If the game is played Saturday, they might get the chance to showcase that progression – at least for a few snaps.
