Weston Coppola Cage is reportedly a suspect in a battery case involving his mother, Christina Fulton.

The 33-year-old, whom Fulton shares with Nicolas Cage, allegedly got into a verbal scuffle with his mother on May 5 at her home in Los Angeles, before the incident became physical, TMZ reported, citing law enforcement sources. The outlet, citing sources, shared that Weston is a suspect in a battery report as a result of the alleged altercation. The Los Angeles Police Department confirms to PEOPLE that "a battery report was taken."

Sources told TMZ that no arrests have been made.

Reps for Weston and Fulton, 56, did not immediately respond to PEOPLE's requests for comment on May 6.

Weston is Nicolas' oldest child and his only with Fulton. The actor is also dad to son Kal-El, 18, whom he shares with third wife Alice Kim, and 19-month-old daughter August, with wife Riko Shibata.

Weston is a musician and actor who has appeared in several of his dad's films. He made his big-screen debut in 2005's Lord of War and has acted in several movies in the years since, most recently 2024's The Night They Came Home.

"Everyone predicted that I would become an actor just because I spent the majority of my childhood getting together with friends and creating stories and having it videotaped," Weston said in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter in August 2019.

He also said that being part of a famous family presented challenges when he was starting his career, noting that some people assumed he was relying on his name to get jobs.

"[It] was actually ferocious. I mean, there were times I would communicate with people and realize that they had completely made their own definition about me for themselves, without even getting to know me," Weston explained.

Speaking about his oldest child to PEOPLE in 2015, Cage, 60, called Weston "the total artist," and added in part, "He can do things I dream about doing … compose music, sing, act, sculpt and cook and now he is a loving father."

In 2017, Weston, who has battled substance abuse in the past, was arrested for a DUI and a hit and run in Los Angeles.

He opened up about his sobriety journey to PEOPLE in 2015, saying, "It got to the point where people thought I was digging my grave."

Speaking about his path, the father of four shared that the birth of his first son helped him focus on recovery.

"Having the combination of [now-ex] Danielle and Lucian and my father in my life, just that trinity right there, basically is going to keep me here," he said.
