Person found dead in car outside Dunnville

Police in Haldimand County are investigating after a person was found dead inside a car on Canada Day.

According to Haldimand OPP, officers were called to an allegedly abandoned vehicle on a rural road east of Dunnville around 4:30 p.m. on Monday.

The body was found in a sparsely populated area roughly halfway between Dunnville and Lowbanks.

Police closed Bird Road near Crown Road for several hours for the investigation, which continues. Residents may notice more officers in the area to start the week.

Investigators have not released any details about the deceased or the circumstances surrounding the discovery of the body, but police say there is no suspected threat to public safety.
