‘Pookiest pookie.’ Jimmy Kimmel mocks reactions to Travis Kelce’s $34M contract deal

Jimmy Kimmel teased Travis Kelce about being “broke” compared to girlfriend Taylor Swift, in spite of his historic pay raise this week.

“Congratulations to Travis Kelce,” the late-night host said during an opening monologue on “Jimmy Kimmel Live.”

“Travis Kelce signed a two-year contract extension with the Kansas City Chiefs. He is now the highest-paid tight end in the NFL. Deservedly so.

“His new contract is worth $34 million — or as Taylor Swift calls it, gum money.”

Last month, Swift was added to the Forbes World’s Billionaires List with an estimated worth of $1.1 billion.

“Can you imagine being in a relationship where you make $34 million and you’re still the broke boyfriend?” Kimmel joked on his show Tuesday night, the day after news of Kelce’s contract came out.

Kimmel also showed how social media reacted to Kelce’s raise.

“Another weird thing about dating Taylor Swift is you can be one of the great players of all time, and this is the reaction you get to your contract extension,” Kimmel said.

He showed some of the comments fans dropped on a tweet showing Kelce getting choked up about the deal.

“He’s so babygirl.”

“His eyes full of tears … this baby.”

“Pookiest pookie.”

“I’m not sure if he’s a football player or a kitten,” Kimmel said.

Here’s the monologue. The Kelce ribbing begins at the 8:57 mark.

Kimmel went on to congratulate Swift on becoming the first musician in history to occupy all top 14 spots on Billboard’s Hot 100.

“I feel like at this point Taylor Swift could win the Kentucky Derby,” he joked.

That race, by the way, is Saturday.
