Six arrested following Wellington Street West drug bust

Sault Ste. Marie police arrested six people Thursday after executing a search warrant in the 600 block of Wellington Street West, which resulted in the seizure of drugs, currency, stolen material and firearms.

Police conducted this raid around 5:40 p.m. alongside members of the Emergency Services Unit.

After arresting six suspects at the scene, police then searched the residence and located approximately 404 grams of suspected fentanyl, approximately 61 grams of suspected methamphetamine and around nine grams of suspected cocaine.

They also seized $9,899 in Canadian currency, drug packaging material, weight scales, a replica handgun, ammunition and a $3,200 guitar reported stolen from a local business.

A search of the six suspects also found one of them to be in possession of a firearm.

This operation resulted in police briefly shutting a section of Wellington Street West, between Conmee Avenue and Henrietta Avenue, around 8 p.m.

At 8:24 p.m., police revealed via social media that this section of Wellington had been reopened to local motorists.
