Environment Canada has cancelled a tornado warning for the Fort Saskatchewan area, but severe thunderstorm watches are in effect throughout the region.

There are several severe thunderstorm watches in effect in Alberta, though many have been lifted.

"Conditions are favourable for the development of severe thunderstorms that may be capable of producing strong wind gusts, large hail and heavy rain," says the advisory from Environment Canada for the Fort Saskatchewan region.

"Large hail can damage property and cause injury. Strong wind gusts can toss loose objects, damage weak buildings, break branches off trees and overturn large vehicles. Remember, severe thunderstorms can produce tornadoes."
