Man shot multiple times in Vancouver restaurant

A man is in critical condition in the aftermath of a shooting this afternoon at a beef and noodle restaurant on Victoria Drive

A 33-year-old man is in critical condition in hospital after he was shot multiple times inside a beef and noodle restaurant on Victoria Drive at 34th Avenue around 12:30 p.m. PT Thursday.

Vancouver Police spokesperson Const. Randy Fincham says police believe a lone gunman entered the restaurant from the rear, fired the shots, and fled out the back to a waiting car.

The victim, who has not been identified, was rushed to hospital by ambulance where he is listed in critical, but stable condition.

Fincham says he is known to police and investigators believe he was the target of the attack.

As reporters were arriving, police escorted another man covered in plastic out of the restaurant and placed him in a police cruiser

It's the second shooting in three months within a block of each other. In March, a Burnaby man was shot multiple times in a targeted attack at Victoria Drive and E 35th Avenue around 9:30 p.m. PT on a Saturday night. The wounded man in that shooting got out of his car and stumbled into a restaurant.

The Victoria Drive block has been closed to traffic.

Fincham says investigators are canvassing the area for witnesses and video.

Police are asking anyone who might have information on the shooting to call them at 604-717-2541.
