Ben Affleck explains why he always looks so mad in paparazzi photos: 'I have resting hard face'

The actor tells Kevin Hart, "Somebody has their camera and sticks it in my face and I'm like, 'Okay, here we go.'"

Ben Affleck wishes he could do more than just glare at paparazzi when they take photos of him out and about with his family.

The Justice League and Gone Girl actor — who has spawned dozens of sad, confused, and angry memes with his expressive face over the years — explained why he often looks angry in paparazzi photos on the season 4 premiere of Kevin Hart's talk show Hart to Heart.

"I'm also a little bit shy," Affleck confessed. "I also don't like a lot of attention. That's why people see me and they're like, 'Why's this dude always mad?' Because somebody has their camera and sticks it in my face and I'm like, 'Okay, here we go.'"

That frustration is taken to another level when Affleck is photographed with his children present.

"Actually, what I'd like to do is much more definitive than just look at you like this," he said. "I don't mind, you can take my picture at a club or a premiere, with my wife [Jennifer Lopez], I don't give a f—. Knock yourself out. I don't notice you. But with my children, that's a different thing."

Affleck also admitted that's kind of just how his face looks sometimes. "By the way, I also might be somebody who I do find myself — I'll be sitting at home, and they're like, 'What's wrong?' 'Nothing. Nothing's wrong,'" he said. "I'm like, 'Nothing. I’m listening to this thing.' I start thinking, is something wrong?"

Hart then suggested that Affleck may have a case of "resting bitch face." In response, Affleck quipped, "Bitch?! Now, now, I have resting hard face."

Affleck also noted that the online reaction to his expressions is often not an accurate reflection of how he was actually feeling at the time, adding, "People are projecting something onto me that I don't feel about myself at all."
