Brittany Mahomes Wore a Crop Top on the Red Carpet, and It’s So Y2K

Brittany Mahomes’s latest look might seem a little familiar to millennials who paid any attention to the tabloids in the early 2000s, and specifically Paris Hilton’s 21st birthday look. We’re not the first to say it and we won’t be the last, but Y2K trends are totally back, and the proof is in Mahomes’s shimmery halter top.

Both Brittany and her husband, Patrick, hit the red carpet at the Time 100 Gala in New York City on April 25, where Patrick was celebrated as one of the magazine’s most influential people. While the Super Bowl–winning quarterback snagged the honor at the event, it was Brittany who shone—sartorially speaking, at least.

The 28-year-old, who became a household after name after striking up a friendship with fellow Kansas City Chiefs WAG Taylor Swift, arrived at the gala in a draped Sau Lee halter top that showed off a sliver of ab. She paired the striking silver top with a more modest black silk skirt that hid her Louboutin heels and also appeared to have pockets, a woman’s favorite accessory.

In order to let the crystal mesh top fully shine, Mahomes wore her blonde hair in a romantic, twisted updo, which complemented her soft makeup.

Brittany Mahomes is not the first celebrity to embrace the draped halter top in this decade. In fact, Kristen Stewart was photographed in a similar (although more risqué) version earlier this year. Stewart styled hers—which was made from black rather than silver strands of crystals—with a more downtown vibe, adding a fitted black skirt with a high slit that showed off her knee-high stockings and black pumps.

Perhaps we’ll see Mahomes rewearing her silver top for her next girls’ night out with Taylor and Co.? Clearly, this halter is versatile.
