Couple tie knot at 'magical' Glastonbury Festival
A couple who tied the knot – and their hands together – at a wedding ceremony during Glastonbury Festival, have said it is a "magical place".
Alex Bee and Liam Barnett, who live in Manchester, took part in a traditional handfasting ceremony - where their wrists were bound in a demonstration of their commitment - at the site’s ancient stone circle.
Ms Bee told BBC Radio Manchester: “We’ve been coming here together since we were pretty young so a lot of our favourite memories have been here and it does feel like special ground.”
Mr Barnett, who is a teacher, added that they chose the Worthy Farm venue because it was their "favourite place in the world".
The pair, who attended the same school but became a couple when they were older after seeing each other at a pub quiz, have been together for 10 years.
Ms Bee said having the ceremony at Glastonbury Festival was “quite a good excuse” to avoid excessive wedding planning.
She said it was a "pretty good lineup and a pretty good playlist going so we didn’t have to plan anything ourselves".
Dua Lipa, Shania Twain and Coldplay were among this year’s headliners at the festival, which had more than 100 stages catering to 200,000 fans.
