‘One Piece’ Season 2 Starts Production at Netflix: Alvida, Buggy and Gold Roger Confirmed to Return

Netflix’s live-action “One Piece” TV series has gone into production for its second season, with the streaming confirming the returns of Ilia Isorelys Paulino as Alvida, Jeff Ward as Buggy and Michael Dorman as Gold Roger.

The original Straw Hat crew was previously confirmed to return to the live-action manga adaptation, with Iñaki Godoy reprising his role as Monkey D. Luffy, Mackenyu as Zoro, Emily Rudd as Nami, Jacob Romero as Usopp and Taz Skylar as Sanji as they come back together in Cape Town.

The series recently cast four villains: Daniel Lasker as Mr. 9, Camrus Johnson as Mr. 5, Jazzara Jaslyn as Miss Valentine and David Dastmalchian as Mr. 3. Additional new cast members include Brendan Sean Murray as Brogy, Callum Kerr as Smoker, Clive Russell as Crocus Julia Rehwald as Tashigi, Rob Colletti as Wapol, Ty Keogh as Dalton and Werner Coetser as Dorry. Additional cast will be announced at a later date.

The series, based on Japan’s highest-selling manga series in history by Eiichiro Oda, debuted in August 2023 and was renewed for a second season soon after. The live-action pirate series was created in partnership with Shueisha and produced by ITV Studios partner Tomorrow Studios and Netflix. Matt Owens and Joe Tracz serve as co-showrunners, writers and executive producers on the live-action series.

Eiichiro Oda, Marty Adelstein and Becky Clements through Tomorrow Studios, Tetsu Fujimura, Chris Symes and Steven Maeda also serve as executive producers. Maeda also served as co-showrunner with Owens last season, but stepped down for the second season and was replaced by “Percy Jackson and the Olympians” writer and co-executive producer Tracz.
