Only Murders Recap: That’s the Way the Cookie Crumbles — Has Our Trio Sniffed Out Ben’s Killer a Week Ahead of Finale?
Has Ben Glenroy’s killer already been unmasked?
During Only Murders in the Building‘s penultimate Season 3 episode, Charles, Oliver and Mabel piece together the night of CoBro’s murder and deduce that Death Rattle producer Donna DeMeo poisoned her leading man. Fearing one bad review — the shredded document! — would taint Cliff’s Broadway debut (and end her son’s career before it even began), Donna laced one of Ben’s beloved Schmackary’s cookies with rat poison. He ate — nay, inhaled — the cookie, then wrote “f–king pig” on his own dressing room mirror before going out on stage.

In the present day, our central trio races to the courthouse for Loretta’s arraignment — to bypass the guards, Mabel slips on Joy’s wedding dress, while “fathers of the bride” Charles and Oliver throw on their tuxes — but they may be too late. Just when they’re about to reveal to Loretta who really poisoned Ben, Donna stands up in the gallery, revealing that she’s in earshot of the amateur sleuths.
Heading into next week’s finale, we still don’t know who pushed Ben down the elevator shaft. It could’ve been Donna attempting to finish what she started, but… our money’s on someone else entirely. We can probably rule out Dickie, who made a trip to see the “five whores” — aka Ben’s sewing circle — after his younger brother was revived. That leaves a number of potential culprits, including disgruntled documentarian Tobert (who Ben told to “f–k off” on opening night, and who wasn’t present at Oliver’s opening-night party) and the TikTok-obsessed Kimber (who was conspicuously M.I.A. this week as the trio pieced together the night of Ben’s murder together, but was present at aforementioned afterparty).
