School district’s strategic plan consultation underway

A feedback period for Nanaimo Ladysmith Public Schools’ draft strategic plan is open to the public until May 27.

The board of education’s 2024-28 strategic plan sets the direction for all departments in the school district and has three overarching goals: student success, student and employee wellness and Truth & Reconciliation. A total of seven objectives are outlined in the plan.

The guiding principles of the plan include the district’s Syeyutsus Reconciliation Framework which is composed of Indigenous knowledge of language, culture and land; a justice, equity, diversity and inclusion (JEDI) lens; and environmental stewardship through the board’s environmental stewardship action plan.

An in-person consultation session is scheduled for May 16 at 6 p.m. at Wellington Secondary School in Nanaimo. Written feedback by emailing consultation@sd68.bc.ca will be accepted through May 27. The draft plan can be viewed at www.sd68.bc.ca/strategicplan-2024-2028.
