Former Strictly Come Dancing star Oti Mabuse recently made some "unforgettable memories" as she had her daughter christened.

However, she’s since revealed the special day didn’t quite go according to plan.

Sharing details from the religious ceremony and celebration, Mabuse explained how things took a "dramatic turn" when her daughter began feeling unwell.

Taking to Instagram, the Strictly and Dancing on Ice star posted a collection of family photos from the special event.

"This past weekend, we had the immense joy of christening our beautiful daughter in the church," she wrote. "It was a day filled with love, laughter, and unforgettable memories.

"We are committed to raising her to be a kind and compassionate human being with a strong faith."

Explaining how the day didn’t quite run as smoothly as expected, Mabuse continued: "The evening took a dramatic turn when she came down with a fever, but we’re keeping a close eye on her. At 8 months, she’s growing and changing so much every day!"

"We laughed, cried, and celebrated together, cherishing every moment. Thank you to everyone who made this day so special," she added.

Mabuse’s eight-month-old daughter, whose name she has not shared publicly, was born earlier than expected in October 2023.

The professional dancer revealed she contracted sepsis shortly after giving birth to her baby girl, who arrived two months premature.

Opening up about the experience on the Happy Mum Happy Baby podcast, Mabuse said: "I think we didn't hold her for about a week because she was still in an incubator with the wires, and with jaundice so she was under blue light. And she had infections because it turned out that I had sepsis."

Strictly Come Dancing will return later this year on BBC One, while spin-off Strictly: It Takes Two airs on weeknights on BBC Two. Both shows are available to stream on BBC iPlayer.
