Willie Nelson Returns to the Stage Alongside Son Lukas After Brief Illness

Willie Nelson returned to the stage after a brief illness, and country music fans are breathing a sigh of relief.

In an Instagram post dated June 21, his team told fans, "We regret to inform you that Willie Nelson is not feeling well and, per doctor's orders, has been advised to rest for the next four days. He is expected to make a quick recovery and join the Outlaw Music Festival tour next week."

On June 28, fans were alerted to the news that "Willie has been cleared by his doctors to go on the road again," but he missed dates through July 2. His Outlaw Music Festival Tour continued in his absence, with performances by his son Lukas Nelson, along with Bob Dylan, Robert Plant and Alison Krauss, and Celisse.

On July 4, the "Always on My Mind" singer made his return to the stage for Willie Nelson's 4th of July Picnic in Camden, New Jersey. His official Instagram account shared a video of him walking onto the stage with his son, Lukas, with the caption, "He’s bbaaacccckkkkk."

  • "True American legend!"

  • "This does our hearts good!! Love you Willie!"
